Another Christmas has come and gone and I think all in all everyone was happy with their presents. I was certainly happy with my steak supper and the lack of clean up and leftovers involved. I was also shocked how quick the day went. The boys slept until about 7:30 am.....then they ate some pop tarts before they touched their stockings......after stockings, we all ate cinnamon rolls then finished up the tree about 11:30am or so.....Grandma came then, so we ate lunch, then more presents...and after play time, it was supper baths and bed.....it all went very quickly with minimal meltdowns.....so a good Christmas all around.....Here is a break down of the hits and misses in the present category:
- Mickey Mouse race track....Thanks Grammy and Grampy- both boys play with this for hours on end....they love this toy, now especially after coming home from Disney. Jake likes to be Pluto and Josh likes to be Goofy.
- Thomas' big Thunder Canyon......this is a train track where you can add motorized Thomas trains onto it and they drive up the track and can take one of 2 paths down. The boys love just playing with their die cast cars (I call them dinky cars, but Johnny hates that) on this track, along with the motorized trains.
- My new dishes and silverware thanks to the Mums (and Moms)...I love all of this guys. The weight of the silverware is perfect and the dishes don't get hot in the microwave anymore- wahoo!
- Kung Fu Panda. That movie is a huge hit with the kids. They have watched it again and again.
- New Sheets for the boys.....Josh got new "Cars" sheets and Jake got new Tony Hawk sheets and they LOVE them. They made me put them on their beds on Christmas nigth BEFORE they were washed. Im not looking forward to Tuesday when I change the sheets back to the old sheets.
- Hulabaloo- what a cool game. I bought this one for Jake but both boys love it. We played for nearly 45 minutes yesterday and in fact, they are playing it right now as Im typing this, all by himself. This one was worth the $15. Don't Wake the Hulk was also a big hit.
- Santa brought Jake the Ben 10 Alien Creator and its a piece of junk....its hard for little 4 year old fingers to put the pieces in the holes where they belong then its impossible for a 4 year old to push the button to eject the alien.....its hard for an adult to do this. And it is rated for a 4 year old. Junk
- I bought Johnny a hand held vacuum.....I figured, this guy loves to vacuum so why not make it easier on him and get him a portable hand held.....but he doesn't want it- he likes dragging out the big 'ole machine- so its going back
- A Cars video game. I cant seem to get it to work in 2 player mode at all.....which is a drag since both boys love racing games. So I need to take that one back too.
So this year I just said "The hell with the turkey" and I have decided to make steak and french onion soup for supper instead. The kids can have hamburgers or hot dogs if they prefer. i just didnt feel like getting into cooking a turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and a veg or two and salad and rolls....its so much work and SOOOOO many leftovers. This way, its simple and easy....but I do have to say that Im a bit sentimental about this....this is the first Christmas of my life that I wont be eating turkey for supper.....seems very odd.....oh well- Im lazy, so no Turkey!
