Jake's starting to earn an allowance now. Last week he and I were talking and he said he wanted to buy some football stuff like a helmet and shoes and socks (I know what you're thinking- very odd football uniform right?). So I asked him how he thought he'd pay for that and he said "I dunno". So I told him that if he wanted to do some chores around the house that Id give him an allowance. So we decided that he would make his bed every day, clean up his dishes and take his clothes to the dirty clothes hamper every day. That little stinker hasn't missed one day- he gets so excited- in fact, he can barely get out of bed before he wants to make his bed. Im really proud of him. Josh on the other hand, wants nothing to do with chores- which is fine- he's not even 3 yet.
There are so many words that Jake and Josh use that are not quite right, but that I find so endearing and I hate to correct them because its just so darn cute! When I was a kid and my baby cousin JD was 2 or 3, he would always say "Lellow" for yellow. That one always stuck with me for some reason and I always thought it was cute. Well now I have 2 boys that call the color yellow "Lellow". Here are a few more of my favorites:
Josh:
STUNK = Skunk
PORCYPINE = Porcupine
DR. WOOBIN = Dr. Rubin
POON = Spoon (as in Big Ole Poon of Peanut Butter)
Jake:
BESSERT = Dessert
INDIBISIBLE = Indivisible
MS. CAFFEY = Ms. Cathy
One more thing that I find so funny. Josh really gets going with his Texas Twang. He almost always elongates the last word of a sentance. He'll say "Where is iiiiii-t", "I want to go th-ay-re", "Thats not f-ay-re", "Look at my wh-eee-el". I think its so cute. Im just not sure where it comes from. Johnny doesnt talk with a twang- and neitehr do I. We think maybe he inherited it from his Grandpa Jerry. If Josh starts calling a gazebo a GABEEZO then I know for sure he is channeling Jerry.
So today was check up day for both Jake and Josh. Josh had never been to the dentist before but had heard Jake talk about Dr. Rubin non stop for 6 months now (since the last check up). So this morning when I mentioned that we were going to the dentist there were cheers and laughing and 2 very excited little boys to say the least. In fact, for over an hour I had to listen to Jake ask "Is it time to leave yet?"
