SeaWorld was GREAT. We got up early on Friday morning and drove down- 5 hours door to door with 3 stops along the way. Pretty good I think! Friday was a perfect day too- about 90 degrees and not many people at SeaWorld, so we could do anything we wanted. Over the two days we saw the Shamu show 3 times, the White Whale show 4 times, the Sea Lions twice and the Rockin' Ski Party once. We also fed the dolphins and the Sea Lions. That was amazing. We went swimming and had lunch at Shamu's Beach Party. The kids had a great time.
Josh said to me before we left "I want Shamu to splash me!". So the 2nd show we went to, we decided to sit at the top of the splash zone- thinking that we wouldn't get very wet there- since it was the very top of the splash zone- boy were we wrong. We got SOAKED- and them the tears started. The boys HATED that and wanted to leave immediately. They decided that getting splashed by Shamu wasn't the best idea. The next time we went to the Shamu show, we sat in the top row of the arena- and they enjoyed it much better.
Josh also tried to get back up on the roller coaster with me. That wasn't a success either. Johnny and Jake rode together and Josh and I rode together, and Jake LOVED it. Josh didn't. The tears started quickly. But we did by the picture so we have proof.
The boys are also quite frightened of the Costumed characters. They love to watch them but if they come close or try to interact with the boys, they both hide and are terrified. That reminds me of Ron with Chubbacca at Universal Studios when we were kids- so I guess it runs in the family huh.
But there were tons of good moments too. I was impressed that both boys wanted to feed the dolphins. They would hold the fish up and the dolphin would come right up, open its mouth and the boys would drop it in their mouth. Really great to see. Also, the amazement on their faces when they saw Shamu jump out of the water for the first time, or seeing Josh wave to White Whale (its a Beluga- but the boys call it White Whale) when his tail was out of the water waving the the crowd. Playing in the water, and the sand, and climbing the ropes and sliding down slides. SeaWorld has a ton to offer and Im looking forward to going back next year.
