So this year I just said "The hell with the turkey" and I have decided to make steak and french onion soup for supper instead. The kids can have hamburgers or hot dogs if they prefer. i just didnt feel like getting into cooking a turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and a veg or two and salad and rolls....its so much work and SOOOOO many leftovers. This way, its simple and easy....but I do have to say that Im a bit sentimental about this....this is the first Christmas of my life that I wont be eating turkey for supper.....seems very odd.....oh well- Im lazy, so no Turkey!
The other tradition that I seem to have broken is to watch "A Christmas Story" on TV before Christmas. I have been watching that show since 1990 with my loved ones, and I haven't seen it yet. I have it on DVD, so I may need to pop that one in tonight sometime.
I guess the good news is though, I have watched the Grinch- thats another must see....Ive also watched Sesame Street Christmas, the Polar Express, The Miser Brothers, Olive- the Other Reindeer and about 15 more that I cant name. So I have had my fill of Christmas stories.....just not THE CHRISTMAS STORY.
We will be going to friends tonight for a gift exchange and some Christmas cheer.....I hope not too my cheer though. Last year I nearly forgot my Santa duties! Im technically working today, but Im hoping to find sometime to bake some shortbread cookies and make my food for the neighbors tonight.
Anyways- if you are reading this, HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all!
