What a great day yesterday- all around. It started with the boys sleeping in past 7:30am, which NEVER happens....then we decided to got Boomerang's for the morning. Its a bounce house place, and I thought they might jump for an hour. 2 hours later they had finally had enough. And I was hungry. We thought about going to a good restaurant (ie- a sit down restaurant), but there was a Chick fil'a right across the street and the boys wanted to go there to play- so we caved and let them go. We ate and they played there for almost 2 hours!
We came home for quiet time (which wasn't so quiet) and then the kids' friends L and K came over for a swim and dinner. That was a blast! The kids stayed outside the entire time and swam from 6pm until about 8:30pm, when we made them eat supper (on the patio) , then it was right back to swimming. They love night swimming. At 9:20 we made them get dressed and we drove to go see the fireworks.
Now, this to me was the highlight of the evening. We drove to a church that overlooks the fireworks (along with 500 other people). We brought glow sticks and the kids played for 30 minutes until the fireworks finally started. Then the fireworks started and that was the first time that Jake and Josh ever really watched fireworks- and to me it was magical. To have Josh sitting on my lap pointing at the fireworks and saying "oooo that one was pretty" or Jake running up to me and saying "did you see the one shaped like a heart!"...it was magical. You know, when we went to Disney, we avoided fireworks nights, only because we thought it would scare the boys. Now when we go back in September, I want to go see Disney fire works.
We got the kids to bed by 11pm and Jake slept today until 7:30am again....its now 8:15 and Josh is still in bed...he needed it.
Thanks Lins and David for coming over and spending the 4th with us. We had a BLAST!!!!!!

We have a fireworks competition every summer at the casino in Hull - if it's on during your visit, it might be worth taking the boys!
